Applications

When you need only a few final products.MSP Machining not only has the technologies to quickly manufacture production goods, we have the finishing capabilities to make your product look simply sublime. To create successful end-use parts, manufacturers have to go beyond the regimented step by step process.

Rapid Prototyping

Rapid Prototyping is often used to describe the process of turning a 3D CAD design into a real part. Rapid prototyping technologies are frequently used towards the beginning of the product development lifecycle to create prototypes or parts used to test and verify designs before full blown production begins. Rapid prototyping services are used in nearly every industry and can be used to prototype everything from a movie prop to a space shuttle component.

Technologies and Applications:

The term Rapid Prototyping is typically used in association with additive manufacturing and 3D printing technologies. These technologies essentially “print” very thin 2D layers on top of each other to form a 3D object. Some of these additive manufacturing technologies include PolyJet, Stereolithography (SLA), Z-Corp 3D Color Prints, Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), and Fused Deposition Modeling. The most frequent uses of rapid prototyping include concept models, design iterations, engineering evaluations, form & fit, presentation models, manufacturing aids and market introductions.

Many benefits can come from creating a prototype early in the design process. Rapid prototyping can help verify a design, communicate an idea and fix design issues early in the development process preventing costly changes to the hard tool once the product is in full production. Creating a physical model also helps potential investors and customers better visualize the product at hand, leading to further investment in the product before it goes to market.

Low Volume Production

When you need only a few final products.MSP Machining not only has the technologies to quickly manufacture production goods, we have the finishing capabilities to make your product look simply sublime. To create successful end-use parts, manufacturers have to go beyond the regimented step by step process. Our expert craftsmen have the artistic touch and finesse that it takes to produce premium, custom-manufactured parts.

We have experience in nearly every industry and have produced everything from a few hundred cosmetic finished medical housings to single, large, rugged bus panel.

Low-Volume Production Applications:

Technologies currently being embraced for low-volume production of parts include Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS), Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), CNC, Cast Urethanes and Composite technologies.

CNC Applications

CNC Machining is the process by which material is removed from a workpiece with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment that cuts away unwanted material. Machining is possible on a wide range of materials. Parts are machined directly from your 3D CAD models.

MSP Machining has a team of expert CNC programmers and engineers that ensure custom parts are machined with the best possible product results. Backing the team is state-of-the-art Computer Numerical Control software and equipment, and turnaround times of 3-9 seven days versus weeks. With our CNC milling service, MSP machining can machine virtually any engineering material, including foam and tooling board, plastics, and metals.

We also offer turned parts via our CNC Lathe which functions as the ideal machine for executing round parts such as threaded shafts, bolts, nozzles, engine components, and rollers. Our CNC Lathe builds on a single axis, spinning while a tool cuts down the metal to the required size. Whether you need a highly accurate machined prototype for a functional test, a large prototype for a customer presentation, or a short-run of finished pats, Solid Concepts has the expertise, hands-on experience, and capacity to get the job done.

Why select the CNC Machined Part process?

When you need to hold tight tolerance (+/- 0.005"), and when you MUST have your parts in a specific material, such as the production plastic or metal.

CNC Machining Highlights:

Machine a wide variety of plastic and metal material options

Typical accuracy is +/- 0.005"

Ability to hold tight tolerances

The cost can be cheaper than even rapid prototypes, depending on the geometry .

Production Manufacturing

When it’s time to move into production.Whether your need is for thousands fully packaged parts or for tooling and assembled parts over a long period of time, MSP Machining has the equipment and skill to make your project a success.
